Rev. Reeda Allen, Pastor

Rev. Reeda began her ministry with us in July of 2009 and has brought with her a sense of enthusiasm and energy for sharing the journey of faith and discovery with all people.

Reeda has been in ministry of some kind since she was a teenager.  At the age of 18, she began teaching children's Sunday school in the church of her own childhood in Lula, Georgia.  While in college at Kennesaw State University, Reeda was an active member of the Baptist Student Union and served as a summer missionary in Germany and Nicaragua.

Reeda previously served as Director of Youth and Education at Holt Road Baptist Church in Marietta, GA from 1997 to 2002.  She then served as Youth Minister at First Baptist Church in Claxton, GA from 2002 to 2004.  In 2004, she moved back to the Atlanta area to finish seminary and serve as Youth Minister and then Associate Pastor at Johns Creek Christian Church from 2004 to 2009.

Reeda has had the unique pleasure of being twice ordained.  She was ordained at First Baptist Church in Claxton in 2004 and continues to be grateful for her Baptist heritage and the affirmation that she received from that church.  After finishing seminary at Mercer University's McAfee School of Theology, Reeda was ordained as a Disciples minister in 2007 by Johns Creek Christian Church.  She is grateful for the addition of her Disciples heritage to what she believes is a rich and diverse faith background.

Reeda is a true Georgia native.  She is single and has no children, but she proudly claims as her own all of the children and youth from the churches she has served.  Her passion for ministry lies in working with children and youth and in doing mission work.  Her goal here at ELCC is to establish and build a strong children and youth ministry while helping adults return to the wonder and mystery of encountering God as a child.

Reeda enjoys the outdoors, spoiling her nieces and nephews, listening to music, watching movies, cooking, Georgia Bulldogs football, laughter, hugs, traveling, and being real.  Her personal motto is: Life is a journey to be traveled and lived as best as we know how.  When I come to the end of my life, whether I've accomplished everything I wanted or not, I just want to know that I've lived my life with meaning and purpose and grace.
